Why silk finish matters

Standard PLA prints look like plastic. Magic Filament™ PLA Silk prints look like polished metal. The secret is a co-polymer additive that reorients pigment particles as the filament flows — creating a smooth, mirror-like surface that catches light beautifully. Perfect for vases, jewelry, statues, custom gifts, and anything you'd otherwise need to paint.

3 colors, hand-matched to real metals

Copper has the warmth of polished penny. Gold leans toward 18-karat yellow, not plastic-yellow. Silver is a true bright nickel finish, not gray. We pigment-match every batch against physical metal samples so your reorder looks exactly like your first spool.

Recommended print settings
  • Nozzle temperature: 215–235 °C (slightly higher than standard PLA for max gloss)
  • Bed temperature: 50–60 °C
  • Print speed: 40–80 mm/s (slower = better gloss)
  • Cooling fan: 50–80% (lower fan = better silk effect)
  • Retraction: 0.4–0.8 mm (direct drive), 2–4 mm (bowden)
  • Layer height: 0.15–0.2 mm recommended for visible silk effect
  • Drying (if humid): 45 °C for 4 hours

Pro tip: silk PLA shows its character on flat surfaces and gentle curves. Print slow, cool low, layer thin — the gloss does the rest.
