Why matte beats glossy for serious work

Photograph a glossy PLA print and you'll fight reflections all day. Print a miniature on glossy PLA and the layer lines glare back at you under any light. Magic Filament™ PLA Matte solves both. The micro-textured surface diffuses light evenly, killing reflections and visually softening every layer transition. It's the difference between "3D printed" and "professionally finished".

9 colors, designer-curated

Ash Grey, Black, Grey, Kraft, Navy Blue, Olive-Green, Pink, Raspberry, White. We picked these for one reason: they are the colors designers and miniature painters actually reach for. Muted tones that don't compete with detail. Earth tones that look natural. Neutrals that print clean and accept paint without primer.

Technical data

State / odor Solid / odorless
Finish Velvet matte, non-reflective

Print settings

Nozzle temperature 200–220 °C
Bed temperature 50–60 °C
Print speed 60–200 mm/s (matte forgives faster speeds)
Cooling fan 80–100%
Retraction 0.4–0.8 mm (direct drive), 2–4 mm (bowden)
Layer height 0.2–0.3 mm, matte finish disguises thicker layers

Material and use

Every Magic Filament™ product is 1.75 mm, the one diameter the whole range runs on. What changes from product to product is the material and the format.

Pen filament ships as pre-cut strands and is tuned for hand work at pen speed. Printer filament ships on a 200 mm spool at 1 kg net and is tuned for FDM printers. PLA is the everyday choice in both. PET-G, ABS and TPU answer harder briefs, from flexible parts to models that take a knock. The working temperature, density and finish of the material you are looking at are listed under Technical data on this page.

Pen, printer, or both

One diameter, two jobs. A product named for 3D Pens is pre-cut strands, tuned for hand work in an EDUstick® 3D pen. Everything else in the range is spooled filament for a 3D printer and is not intended for a pen.

The quickest check is on this page: if Technical data lists a nozzle temperature above 230 °C, the material belongs in a printer, because that is the ceiling of the pen. Not sure which one a lesson or a project needs? Write to contact@edustick.eu and describe it.

Working temperature

Working temperature depends on the material, so the number that matters is the one under Technical data on this page, not a single range for the whole catalogue.

The EDUstick® 3D pen itself runs from 50 to 230 °C in 5 °C steps, so one device handles a soft material and a stubborn one. With the parental lock on, heating stops at 90 °C, so the adult decides how hot the lesson gets. A material that asks for more than 230 °C cannot be used in the pen at all.

Colour and planning

Colour is a decision, not decoration. In a classroom, one colour per layer lets a child plan a model before drawing it, then read their own mistakes afterwards. On a printer, the finish is what the finished object is judged on.

Matte hides layer lines and kills glare, silk catches the light, marble does the work of a texture. Pick for the project, not the mood.

What you get

One material, in the colour or combination named at the top of this page. Pack contents on this page lists exactly what ships: pre-cut strands for pen filament, or a 200 mm spool at 1 kg net for printer filament.

Spooled filament travels vacuum-sealed with desiccant, so it reaches you dry and ready. Buying for a class, a workshop or a print farm? Send your colour list to contact@edustick.eu and we quote the whole order.

Buying again

Filament runs out, which is the point of it. Reordering the same product keeps one colour standard across a whole term or a whole production run.

Every Magic Filament™ product is 1.75 mm, so a new order never changes how the device behaves, and every production batch is measured against the master sample. Buying for a group? Send your colour list to contact@edustick.eu and we quote it.

Safety and compliance

Every Magic Filament™ product meets RoHS 2011/65/EU and REACH (EC) 1907/2006, confirmed by independent lab, and is not classified as hazardous under (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP) in solid form. Declaration of Conformity and Safety Data Sheet are available on request. Distributed by Magic Filament Sp. z o.o., Warsaw, Poland.

EDUstick® devices are built on European, certified technology and meet EN 71, CE, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, EMC and LVD requirements. In a 3D pen the parental lock caps heating at 90 °C; unlocked, the pen reaches 230 °C. Adult supervision is recommended, whichever material is on the desk.

Some materials ask for more than supervision. Where that applies, the warning and the handling rules are on the product page itself, above Technical data.

Delivery, invoice, contact

Warranty and support

Every EDUstick® device carries 24 months of warranty. Filament is a consumable, so what applies to it are your statutory rights as a buyer.

If a product reaches you damaged or will not feed, write to contact@edustick.eu and attach a photo. We reply within 2 business days.

What Can You Make With a 3D Pen? Beginner Project Ideas

Colour

Colour does the teaching.

Pick Magic Filament™ for the project, not for the mood. Separate colours let you plan a model in layers, then see exactly where the plan held and where it did not.

Pick the spool, not the shade.
Four decisions.

What actually changes when the material changes.

  • Material before colour

PLA for everyday work, PET-G when a part has to survive water and impact, ABS for heat and stress, TPU when it has to bend. The material decides what the model can survive.

  • One colour per layer

Separate spools turn a model into a plan. The child decides the order of the layers first and can read every decision afterwards.

  • Pen or printer

Same 1.75 mm diameter, two jobs. Pen filament comes as pre-cut strands for hand work; spooled filament belongs in a printer.

  • Reorder without guessing

One standard across the whole EDUstick® line, so a school reorders by colour and never by compatibility chart.

Will this filament fit an EDUstick® 3D pen?

Every Magic Filament™ product is 1.75 mm, the diameter the whole EDUstick® line runs on. The products named for 3D Pens are the pre-cut strands tuned for hand work. Everything else is spooled filament for a 3D printer, and a nozzle temperature above 230 °C puts it out of range for the pen.

Which material should a class start with?

PLA. It is predictable, joins easily and forgives a shaky hand. For pen work in a classroom, start with Magic Filament™ PLA for 3D Pens and keep the parental lock on.

Can we buy for a school on an invoice?

Yes. We issue VAT invoices for schools and institutions. Send your colour list and billing details to contact@edustick.eu.

How fast does an order ship?

Within 24 h on business days. Free delivery in Poland from 399 zł; checkout shows the options and cost for your market.
