Magic Filament

Magic Filament™ ABS [High Speed]

€20,99
Out of stock
TL;DR High-speed ABS for functional parts. Tough, heat-resistant, weldable with acetone. Requires enclosed printer with proper ventilation. 5 colors, 1 kg spool.

Probably the best filament on the planet. When PLA gives up, too soft or too brittle or too quick to deform in heat, ABS takes over. Magic Filament™ ABS High Speed prints functional parts that survive sunlight, impact, and engineering stress.

💪
Engineering-grade toughness

High impact resistance. Drops, vibration, stress.

🌡️
Heat resistant to ~85 °C

Survives car interiors, outdoor sun, mild heat.

🔧
Acetone-weldable

Smooth, glue, repair with acetone. Pro-finish.

Built for the parts PLA can't handle

ABS is the industry standard for a reason. LEGO bricks, electronics enclosures, automotive trims, power tools, they are all ABS, because ABS doesn't crack when you drop it and doesn't deform when it gets warm. Magic Filament™ ABS High Speed is tuned for the new generation of fast enclosed printers: faster melt, optimized flow, less stringing than legacy ABS formulations.

Ventilation is non-negotiable

Unlike PLA (essentially odorless), ABS releases styrene vapor during extrusion. Styrene isn't acutely toxic at home-printer concentrations, but extended exposure causes headaches, eye irritation, and respiratory discomfort. Always print ABS in an enclosed printer with active filtration (HEPA + activated carbon), in a well-ventilated room, or with a window open and the printer near it. For multi-hour prints, wear a P2/P3 mask when handling the print mid-job.

⚠️
Important: ABS requires proper ventilation

ABS releases styrene fumes during printing. Always print in a well-ventilated room or use an enclosed printer with HEPA + carbon filter. For long print sessions, consider wearing a respirator mask. Do not print ABS in living spaces without active air exchange.

Technical data

Material ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), high-speed formulation
Net weight 1 kg
Spool diameter 200 mm
Recommended nozzle temp 240–260 °C
Recommended bed temp 95–110 °C
Heat deflection temp ~85 °C
Density 1.04 g/cm³ (slightly lighter than PLA)
State / odor Solid / slight plastic odor
Post-processing Acetone smoothing, glue, sand, paint

Print settings

Nozzle temperature 240–260 °C
Bed temperature 95–110 °C (heated bed required)
Chamber temperature 40–60 °C if available
Print speed 60–250 mm/s
Cooling fan 0–30% (cooling causes warping)
Retraction 0.5–1 mm (direct drive), 3–5 mm (bowden)
Bed adhesion ABS slurry, glue stick, or a dedicated ABS bed adhesive
Enclosure strongly recommended, prevents warping and traps fumes
Drying (if humid) 65 °C for 4 hours

Pro tip: ABS warps on cold edges. Slow the first layer, disable part cooling, keep the enclosure closed. The hardest part of ABS is the first 5 layers. Get those right and the rest prints itself.

Pack contents

  • 1 kg net weight of high-speed ABS filament
  • Standard 200 mm spool (fits all common printers)
  • Color of your choice (see variants above)
  • Vacuum-sealed with desiccant for moisture protection
  • Recyclable cardboard packaging

Who it is for

  • Engineers and prototypers: functional parts that need to hold up under stress, vibration, or impact
  • RC, drone, and automotive hobbyists: parts that live in heat: dashboards, motor mounts, sun-exposed components
  • Power tool and electronics makers: enclosures, housings, brackets that need real durability
  • LEGO-compatible designers: ABS is what real LEGO is made of; perfect for compatible custom builds
  • Anyone with an enclosed printer who wants to step up from PLA into engineering-grade work

Ventilation checklist

  • Always print in a well-ventilated room. Open a window, use a fume extraction fan, or route printer output to a window via a duct.
  • Enclosed printer with HEPA + activated carbon filter is strongly recommended. This combination captures both particulates and styrene vapor.
  • Do not print ABS in living spaces, bedrooms, or rooms with infants or pregnant individuals without active filtration.
  • For long prints (over 4 hours), wear a P2 or P3 respirator mask when checking on or handling the print.
  • Allow the print to cool fully before removing, because handling warm ABS releases more fumes.
  • If you experience headaches, dizziness, or throat irritation while printing: stop, leave the room, ventilate, return when air is clear.
